Project Re:form delivered the first human-centered application for public benefits in America. It streamlines access to the five largest assistance programs, such as food and healthcare, for 2.5 million residents across Michigan. The new application is 80% shorter and can be processed in nearly half the time. It rolled out statewide in 2018.

MDOS + Civilla
Working with the Michigan Department of State, we were able to redesign mailers that are sent to the citizens of Michigan to renew their Drivers Licenses and car tabs. Through user research, user testing, collaboration with various vendors, and multiple rounds of approvals, we were able to achieve a solution that speeds up the process for Michiganders to identify whether or not they can renew online.

Spotlight Serving System
Using a user-centered design method, research was done within a Chicago Public School cafeteria system and a new process of presenting food to students was designed and implemented.
When beginning the project, we thought, “How can we get kids to eat healthier?” but after observations and analysis we realized the real question was, “How can we get kids to eat?”
After 9 months of rigorous prototyping and testing with real kids, the Spotlight Serving System was realized and underwent a pilot program.
